Hello! I am Mrs. Saslofsky, librarian at Burt Elementary. After 15 years in the classroom, I decided to begin my new adventure as library media specialist as a Burt Tiger. Now I'm afraid to say, you will have a hard time getting rid of me, because I love being a Tiger! I am looking forward to my third year at Burt and having even more fun in the 2022-2023 school year. I am a wife, mom of three, obsessive Rae Dunn collector, and an avid reader. I can't wait to share my love of reading and books with all my fellow Tigers!
What I'm Reading
Right now I am reading A Place to Hang the Moon by Kate Albus. It is a historical fiction VSBA nominee. The story takes place during World War II in war stricken London. The story follows three siblings that recently lost their grandmother that was their care giver. They are evacuated to the countryside where they bounce from home to home and face many difficulties on their journey to find a permanent home. I will build relationships with all stake holders to bring literacy and lifelong learning to the community. E: Expertise: I will continually develop my skills in order to meet customer and community needs through continuous learning and professional organizations. I will use my expertise and knowledge of literacy to help teachers and staff provide the best resources for our community. A: Attentive: I will strive to be approachable and proactive for all customers of the library regardless of the need. I will provide help and assistance first and foremost by creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed and accepted. D: Design: I will create a learning space that will cultivate creativity and originality, with space provided for research, collaboration, and contemplation.
